Michael Widjaja is the founding Artistic Director of the Siouxland Chamber Orchestra, who serves as the conductor of the ensemble. He is a musician and educator dedicated to bringing professional orchestral music to the Siouxland region.

A graduate of The Hartt School with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, he has led multiple chamber orchestras and wind ensembles while developing a passion for collaborative music-making and thoughtful programming.

As a trumpet player, Michael has performed with nationally recognized ensembles and festivals across the United States. His performance experience includes the National Music Festival as an Orchestral Fellow, the National Youth Wind Ensemble, the NAfME All-National Symphony Orchestra, PRISMA Festival & Academy, the Credo Music Festival, and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute.

Michael believes that great orchestras are built not only through artistic excellence, but through meaningful connections with the communities they serve. Through the Siouxland Chamber Orchestra, he hopes to establish a professional ensemble that enriches the cultural life of Siouxland, provides meaningful opportunities for professional musicians, and makes exceptional orchestral performances accessible to all.
